Barger Named Head Volleyball Coach at Goshen High School

Goshen, IN - Goshen Community Schools is excited to announce the hiring of Jude Barger as the new head
coach of the Goshen High School girls' volleyball team. A longtime Goshen resident and respected coach in
the travel volleyball community, Barger brings a wealth of experience, a player-first approach, and a passion
for building strong, competitive teams.
Originally from Bluffton, Indiana, Barger moved to Goshen in the early 1990s. He has spent over two decades
working in the construction industry. He and his wife have three adult children and recently welcomed their
first grandchild, something he proudly shares with the same enthusiasm he brings to the volleyball court.
Barger began coaching youth volleyball in 2008 and entered the club scene in 2010. His history with GHS
includes serving as a varsity assistant in 2012, stepping into the head coach position in 2018, and returning as
an assistant from 2020 to 2023. At the club level, he has coached two national championship teams as an
assistant.
His coaching philosophy centers on discipline, fundamentals, and fostering a positive team environment.
“Players need repetition to develop their skills, but also opportunities for live play to prepare for the speed and
intensity of the game,” Barger said. “Above all, I want them to grow as teammates and individuals.”
He is excited to lead the RedHawks and collaborate with returning assistant coaches Jen Hartsough and
Olivia Bieganski. With strong off-season involvement and rising interest in the program, Barger sees great
potential ahead. “We’ve seen more girls coming out for the team, and that added depth and energy can really
take us to the next level,” he added.
Goshen Community Schools welcomes Coach Barger into this new role and looks forward to a competitive
and character-driven season under his leadership.
