Dr. Karen Blaha Named Goshen Intermediate School Interim Principal for 2025–26 School Year

Goshen, IN – Goshen Community Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Karen Blaha as
Interim Principal of Goshen Intermediate School (GIS) for the 2025–26 school year. Dr. Blaha brings more
than three decades of experience in education, leadership, and instructional coaching to this role, and she is
no stranger to the Goshen community.
Dr. Blaha previously served as principal at Chamberlain Elementary School and held district leadership roles
as Director of Curriculum and Director of English Learners for Goshen Community Schools. Her return to the
district reflects her deep understanding of our community and her commitment to equity, excellence, and
innovation in education.
Most recently, Dr. Blaha has served as Program Coordinator and Associate Professor of Education at the
University of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois, where she has led the Educational Leadership Master’s Program and
advised doctoral candidates in educational leadership. She is a published author and nationally recognized
presenter on topics such as culturally responsive teaching, instructional equity, and support for diverse
learners.
Dr. Blaha holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and multiple certifications in K–12 leadership and
teaching. Her career spans roles as a principal, district director, instructional coach, and reading specialist.
She has contributed to national research and program design and has a strong passion for mentoring future
leaders and fostering inclusive learning environments.

Dr. Blaha will serve in this interim capacity for the 2025–26 school year as GCS & GIS begins the search for a
permanent principal. Her leadership will help ensure a smooth transition and continued progress for students,
staff, and families.
